Below is about our red eared slider, Kurumi's egg laying of the seventh time.
June 7
In Kanto area of Japan rainy season came earlier than usual.
At the same time of beginning of rainy season Kurumi's activity for egg began suddenly as well
though she had not shown any sign of egg laying at all. After I felt that she had lost her appetite a little
for a few days she had begun to act like she said " I finished making eggs completely.

She spends in the water of container quietly till around 10 or 11 o'clock in the morning and begin to
move to get out of water around noon normally. She doesn't like to go outside and keep still inside room
because she is a coward and not so active usually. But she becomes unusual only at the time of egg laying.
She is sure to jump out from water around 5 or 6 o'clock in the morning and waits for us o open window
making noise near the window to show her presence to me.

Kurumi went for the planter of spider plants as usual at first at the outside.
The reason is probably because it is ease to clime for her,
She looked to be interested in also another planter next to that.
It was planted Italian parsley.
she seemed to like it better than spider plant' one this summer..

Leaves of parsley have already become hard
after its flowers came out. I couldn't use it for cooking.
So I decided to give her these two planters for egg laying.
Two planters were push by her shell repeatedly
and got worse and worse.

June 11
A few days after she began to act.
I felt that there were some different points in her appearance from usual one.
She didn't walk around much from the beginning. . She was not so active.
She scratched on the floor or planters by her rear legs at the same spot.
She was very quiet as if the time of egg laying had been already approaching.
June 17
It is her routine that she begins to act from early morning, goes out comes back room around sunset
and sleeps in the water until next morning.
But she wouldn't return from balcony in the evening this day.
A few days like this continued after then
It was like the time of her egg laying is approaching though it was still June.
I didn't think that I took her outside and didn't mind about calendar yet because it was too early
for her egg laying. But it was full moon that night and spring tide continued for 4days from next day
when I checked it.

June 22
Kurumi went out from morning. I had been forgetting about her perfectly because she was very quiet
I reminded her and went balcony to confirm where she was and what she did just past noon.
At that time I noticed something white. They were eggs. There were 5 eggs on the floor.
And Kurumi was sitting still on the planter of spider plants by them.
She looked to have already finished laying egg completely.

The soil in the planter was turn over
and it became soft as if it was plowed.

Kurumi seemed to lay eggs after digging here.
It was first time that Kurumi laid eggs by using the soil in the planter at balcony as Kamemi had done before.
It was unexpected laying egg at early time.
July 3
Kurumi has been quiet for about 10 days after she laid eggs. Then she became active again..
3 days-spring tide has come again in calendar, too.
I had often experienced that she began activity again at the day of spring tide after rest for a while
like this time also before.
After then she spent on the planter quietly everyday.
I thought she would lay eggs again around next spring tide (about 2 weeks later).
July 17
But her activity stopped suddenly though it was the first day of next spring tide.
She has been spending in the water without moving everyday, And she ate much.
Such day continued for a while. The reason may be probably she felt consecutive cloudy and chill days
in Kanto area were not good for her egg laying.
July 29
Spider plant had a lot of leaves at the beginning of June.
But it received damage from her last egg laying
and couldn't keep up with turning over new leaves.

The planter was at a little higher place
because it stacked up on the bucket as a weight
not to be blown off by the wind of typhoon.

Nevertheless she didn't mind for things like that at all.
She seemed comfortable on the planter as you can see.
She has been staying here from morning to evening.
At this place the sunlight has been shining
from around noon to 4 or 5 o'clock.
Though it seems to be too hot, it may be good for her to
warm her body well for egg laying.
She looks to be comfortable with her leg stretched out
and with her eyes half-closed.

But I was worried about high temperature, too.
So I put a water container in the side of her
so that she can drop in it to cool down her body
whenever she like and need.

On the other side she didn't show interested in it at all
and she was napping comfortably until sunset.
The next day, also two and three days later she spent on the planter of balcony
from morning to evening as well.

I separated the bucket from planter of spider plant piled up so that it was easy to clime
on it for her. Parsley of another planter has already withered and
only its root and dead stem has left there. I moisten the dry soil of the planter moderately.

Next spring tide had come soon. It was usual time when she laid eggs every summer for her.
July 31
This day she didn't go out soon in the morning.
At first she scratched a mat in the side of window. Then she went for the planter of spider plants.
But she unusually came back early around past noon.

When I confirmed the planter.
I found like that.

I could find a lot of eggs between the planter of parsley and
piled bigger one under it.
She may use the gap between two planters instead of a hole
to lay eggs probably.

The soil of right planter of parsley had become soft moderately
as if it was plowed.
I thought that she laid eggs in the gap of the planters
after she dug up at the right planter at first.
When I removed the upper one of the planter piled up
we found some eggs there like this,
There we10 eggs.

It was 15 eggs in total together with 5 she laid last time,
the record high number in a summer for her.

By the way, in the calendar the period of spring tide started
from the next day.

Kurumi laid eggs in the balcony without going outside
in two consecutive years.
It was very helpful for me, her owner.
