The 1st time
June 28(Thurs.)	Kamemi which looked to have been restless these several days. Finally she started her activities for eggs of this year with sudden running in the room,. It became sultry, when she began to rage. How sensitive to temperature she is !
	She is scratching on my body How comfortable it is ! It's so warm. It look as if I dig warm soil. Notably this time she often climbs person's bodies and scratches there. She may feel a little cool because cloudy and rainy days have been continuing since she started activities. As soon as she finds me, she comes from somewhere and climbs my body and scratches on my legs, arms, back, face head...anywhere. Her nails of this year are very sharp like needles. So I feel so painful when I 'm scratched by her that I can't stand it.My hands and legs are always injured all over. She made a lot of small hole in my shirt. Her life style changes whenever her activities for egg start.She seems be tired by restless activity all day long. Taking a nap for several hours from evening to night is a daily work during her activity for egg.. She takes a nap in the water of bathroom everyday. She wakes up to work again after she sleeps well in the water for a while. She eats food a little before taking a nap.. I give her small food with vitamin for her energetic activity. And she chooses here as her sleep place at night. She sleep hereand in the same way pushing herself forward a little like this very night. She there must be some reasonsfor her. I wonder if she feels good by natural air coming through the window. Just passageway of breezehere. "Don't wake me up ! I was sleeping here soundly" (Kamemi)
July 4 (Wed.)	About a week later, I prepared small field for eggs lying in balcony as usual. Put some flower pots with only soil in center and place other pots with thick plants around them so that she can hide herself from outdside. The layout of pots looks like making a miniature garden. It's a very joyful work. A few minutes later the queer noise like a stream of water was heard. Just then she put her face into a bucket for water hyacinths and gobbled the water. It reminded me a day when I took her to the field a few years ago. She did like this also then. I wonder if she is thirsty while activities for eggs laying because she has to spend out of water longer than usual. She has taken out the soil of the pots as this picture every time she goes out the balcony. But she come back a room soon after then. I make it a rule to leave her to balcony when she scratches on the floor or rags in the room frequently, on a fine and days, and when the sun warms the soil of the pots. I never let her go out on cloudy or rainy days
July 10 (Tues.)	II expected her to complete her egg laying without stopping active. But she seems to need to take a rest for a while as usual. Coming a spell of rainy weather again makes her stop acting.
July 18 (Wed.)	She took a rest during about week with eating much and sleeping well. And she began to rage again. But gloomy weather of these days is likely to delay her egg laying.
July 24 (Thurs.)	It was a shiny day after several days and the temperature went up remarkably. She stopped to scratch a rag and went out balcony as soon as I opened window for her around noon when began to become warm.. But she began sunbath and take a nap with her legs stretched.And she acted again, run in the balcony after a few hours' nap at last. Around 6 p.m. she began to dig the soil of pot in which she was interested this time. She looked to dig there very earnestly. Her scratch was heard constantly from the dark.. She didn't appear to stop her work even after 8 p.m. So I expected that she must lay eggs indeed tonight. But I couldn't find any eggs there. She seemed not to lay eggs this night.
July 25 (Wed.)	It was also a shiny day. I left her in the balcony around noon. So she took a nap also this day. she was so relaxed that she didn't look to be in her laying timeand slept well for as long as 3 hours. She may need to warm herself enough to act for laying eggs And she even ate food a little in the water after a nap. Before evening she dig carefully the soil of pot that she aimed to this time twice or so. But she gave it up at last. I was sure that she didn't lay eggs at that day. Just then she went out to balcony again around 9 p.m. and made a rustling at the pots. She were late in coming back..She sat on the different pot from that she aimed and looked to be just laying eggs with her hind legs moved when I went to spy how is she doing about 11 p.m. though I couldn't have found any eggs yet. I stayed up late until 2 a.m to wait for her to come back room. But she didn't come. When I saw her she looked to finish everything and sleep already. So some eggs seemed to drop among pots I brought her into water. Next morning, I made sure of them among the pots. 5cm-long big 4 eggs (the upper row) 3cm-long a small one (the middle) And 1-2 cm 4 immature dried eggs ( the lower) that we can't call them for eggs. The number of eggs is rather few for all so long acting nearly a month. I wonder if the climate causes it.
The 2nd time
Augus 2(Thurs.)	The rainy season has ended at last. Kamemi which has been taking a rest after last egg-laying began to act again. She scratched on the straw mats she likes in Japanese room from morning. It remembered me that I didn't feel so much that her weight became light as usual. It may be because of eggs.
	She went out the balcony to bask in the sun first thing in the morning every day. After then, when her body warmed well, she dug the soil of pots next. It was her usual daily schedule. The rainy season has just ended and a later summer than usual has come. I was sure that a spell of hot days would help her egg laying and she would lay eggs soon. She put her legs into an opening (between the window and a pot ) different from a usual pot and scratchedthere carefully this day. And after then she gave up her action for egg laying.
Augus 7(Tues.)	But... Only 5 days later after then 、She gave up her action again. And she which was willing to bask during her action came not to like basking again as usual. It might mean that she doesn't want to lay eggs and need to warm herself any longer. Basking scenes of Kamemi which doesn't like open-air spots so much. Basking in the balcony seems to be unease for her. She comes to bask for long time only when she is surrounded by a lot of plants to hide herself. This is a way for the case that she still tries to return to the room. I open the window widely at first and make her to bask by the sunbeams that reaches to inner part of the room. Kamemi which likes inside of the house is pleased with basking in the far place from the window best. She is a difficult turtle. Since then, she has been interested in only eating. Judging from my experience it's the time to end her egg laying season soon. Her egg laying of this year might end and come her eating season next.
Sept. 14(Fri.)	I took her to have finished her laying season of this summer already and cleaned the balcony that she had made dirty during this summer. Then when I tried to move the flowers pot to wash there, I found a egg in the spot where she put her legs into, between the window and a pot just before she stopped her action. The egg was parched and broken, and its inside was empty as if ants has eaten it. At first I understood that she stopped action temporally to take a rest. But in fact she had finished laying a egg. After all, She laid only 10 eggs including immature eggs in this summer.
