There must be a lot of owners whose turtles won't eat pellet type food and are anxious for their health. So I'll introduce you so good ideas that you can get hints for food of turtles from.

Special food for Kumosuk(October 2013) Reeves turtle, Kumosuke didn't come to want to eat pellet food, reptmin alone after disease, because I gave him chicken breast with powdered medicine prescribed in the animal hospital to be ease to give it. He tried to remove Reptomin from chicken with them smartly to eat only meat. So I devised this food to give him Reptomin effectively. I got to be able to make food for Kumosuke easily and quickly by using minced meat and make him more much Reptomin with a little meat without failure. He had been suffering from digestive system disease like acute peptic ulcer, gastrointestinal infectious disease and so on for a while. So I added  intestinal drug for reptile(Repraze) containing good bacteria and enzymes into it to be easy of digestion. I think that it's helpful when we want to give turtles healthy food  for an balanced diet and illness. I try to make it without using as little as possible( 2 or 3 grams meat for 50 long sticks of Reptomin) So It's Reptomin itself in both its appearance and its smell Turtles which don't like pellet food may not eat it because it  does not seem to be delicious at all, though turtles surly like this food more than dry pellet food itself. I propose for such turtles that you use a little more meat to reduce a feeling of pellet food. Grind a suitable amount of pellet food like Reptmin into powder by a mortar. Ingredients 1. Powdered pellet food 2. Minced meat (without fat) 3. Intestinal drug for reptile(Repraze) And add 1 or 2 drops of vitamin for reptile(reptisol)there once or twice a week. Mix them, knead by finger and make it a lump. Just give him as it is, or after tearing   to a size easy to eat for him. It's possible to become easy to eat by addition more water and making it softer at the time of loss of appetite or when it is likely to be hard to eat. Repraze(Intestinal drug for reptile ) The package says "Living intestinal bacteria keep good digestion for reptile. It's helpful to increase appetite, put up absorbing power of nutrition and prevent disease germs increasing in number. How to use : Sprinkle a suitable amount of this over food. It is effective to give this continuously. No harmful influence even when giving too much. Main ingredients: 3 kinds of intestinal bacteria,Brewers dried yeas, Protein-splitting enzyme Lipolytic enzyme." I felt it looks and smells like soybean flour we can give it easily even when sprinkling over fish or meat. But it is unsuitable for the food made by hardening with gelatin like below because it includes protein-splitting enzyme. I also try to make this nice food ! Ingredients I used this time *smelt 70g *Sweet shrimp 40g *Japanese corbiculae 50g *Pork lever 20g *Pork heart 70g *Boiled vegetables ( Carrot and broccoli etc.) 100g in total *A half of beaten egg *Water 150ml *Vitamins for reptile(Reptosol/Tetra) 10 drops *Powdered gelatin 10g Side notes * Why I choose "smelt and sweet shrimp"is because they are accustomed to use as turtle's food for me. "Japanese corbiculae" is a fresh water shellfish most easily got for us in Japan. * Vegetables are heated by microwave not to lose kinds of vitamin. * How to remove the shells of Japanese corbiculae.(Weight above is with shells) You boil a little more water to open the shells and remove them. The water that boiled shells in also use as water after you cool it not to waste drawn nutrition in it. The water may be able to use as water to melt some gelatin. * Vitamin mixes them after all ingredients grind lest vitamin is destroyed by mixing. I didn't use red food coloring written in the recipe of "Chelodina", for the owner answered for me that it was only to make turtles more attractive when I asked him. My way of cooking is so easy that I don't need explain that. All of ingredients put into the machine together, add vitamin and gelatin that melt by water in it, pour it into mold, put it in the refrigerator, get them out of the mold and reserve them in freezer. In case that you feel difficult to remove from the mold, you need to heat in water or put them into freezer for a while at first. If you don't have any machines, how about use kinds of mortar instead? Put ingredients into machine together So they became puree like this My hand-made turtle food I used by heart and star-shaped mold for ice cubes to be able to use easily and enjoy their cute appearance. Don't you think they are like chocolates? It also seems to enjoy to make by using molds for soaps Well, I cared for if our turtles which is particular about food like to eat or not. I gave my hand-made food to them with a beating heart. So to my glad both Kamemi & kumosuke bit them with vigor. I'm very glad that they ate the food with vegetablesthat they don't like and wouldn't eat at all.

The ingredients are pellet type turtle's food, dried shrimps and vitamins for reptile(Reptosol/Tetra). You grind pellet type food , add smashed dried shrimps and drop vitamin. And you mix, knead, and dry them. Tetsu says " Tio was pleased with this shrimp flavor food very much." Making food needs to do everyday and keep long.
