Kumosuke & Kurumi in spring 2018 Kumosuke turned 25 years old. He follows Kurumi about as usual. "Oh ! I can see Kurumi ! " Kumosuke found Kurumi and approached the container that she's in. Kurumi that found him to be approaching grew restless and nervous suddenly. She objected to being flirted with by him and went out of the container. But uncle Kumosuke pursued her persistently. So Kurumi tries to take refuge in the room. Nevertheless, Kumosuke pursues her and also comes in the room with her Under the situation like this Kamemi glared at Kumosuke and bit him to fight back. But Kurumi is very timid and nervous. She only runs from place to place without looking at him in the eye. She is surely thinking "what a mean turtle he is i." in her mind. (April 2018)

Kumosuke and a backpack Kumosuke threats my husband's backpack with opening his mouth widely. Not only this backpack also his briefcase, electric razor, clothes and so on. Kumosuke approaches my husband's belongings and tries to threats them as soon as he found them. Of course, also for my husband himself. He may dislike the person who doesn't give him food and doesn't change water for him.. At any rate, I wonder how he recognize the difference of persons. (March 2018)

Kumosuke & Kurumi in the balconyi Kumosuke & Kurumi which must be in the balcony were so quiet. So I went be sure where they were. Then I .could find them together in such place, under the flower pot for water lily. Kumosuke trying to climb Kurumi's back shell and Kurumi sunbathing with her eyes narrowed and without care for him like that. Such they reminded me younger Kumosuke that was full of mischief often climbed Kamemi's back shell skillfully and sunbathed with her. (September 2017)

Kumosuke & Kurumi in spring 2017 "Oh, it's Kurumi ! I am this big, too."(Kumosuke) He shows his appeals to Kurumi by Keeping his legs and lifting up his carapace as soon as she appeared from a container. Kumosuke is 24 years old and kurumi will become 7 years old soon. 7 years had passed since they began to live together. (April 2017)

(June 2015) Kurumi's 5th birthday Kurumi has turned 5 years old in June 2015. She is a shy, timid and delicate turtle, and she is opposite in character from Kamemi which was always fearless with dignified manner. But she is more friendly than Kamemi, and she .likes persons very much. (Upper) She found my husband who laid in the room and approached and climbed to him. She looks proudly. (Lower left) "I am very glad that you grew well"(Kumosuke) This couple shot makes recall us the old days when Kamemi lived. (Lower right) Happy Birthday to Kurumi ! I arranged flowers blooming on July and a candle shaped figure 5 on the turtle-shaped pot to celebrate her birthday.

"Can you find any prey there, Kumosuke ?" Spring has came ! I came to a field with Kumosuke on a nice & warn day. This is the field where Kurumi comes to lay eggs in the summer and also Kamemi used to often come old days. But Kumosuke came here at the first time this day. He saw a field at the first time in his life. It looked he lost his bearings for a while because it's different from our balcony and it is very extensive. But he walked along the path with curiosity soon. And he found something like this there. " They say they call it horse tail. I had my owner take a picture with it because I saw it at the first time.(Kumosuke)" This area used to be rice paddy and marshland. Old waterways remains as puddles. He found such a puddle and he was interested in it. He would try to go into water with shaking off my hand though I tried to bring him back many times. It shows the behavior of aquatic turtle very much. (March 2015)

Coming Home of Kumosuke "I 'm home now ! It's me. I wont to come in. Open here for me. Hey ! Are you hearing me ? Open here. This is Kumosuke which makes noise scratching the glass of the window from the side o the balcony. We can see the black figure of Kumosuke which appeals to open the window"in silhouette through the frosted glass of the window. And when I open it for him narrowly he pushes his shell into the space and comes in. This is the entrance for our two turtles which were playing at the balcony to come in the living room. here (July 2014)

(July 2010) (July 2014) Baby Kurumi and her which has grown up +Kumosuke (Left) This is Kurumi that was still only 12 g in weight just after she came our home.She is basking in the sun on the leaf of water hyacinth like an insect. And 4 years later...... (Right) On the other hand, this is present Kurumi that became 1.5kg. She is basking in the sun on the spider plants pressing its leaves by her shell. And it's uncle Kumosuke that claws Kurumi.

Kurumi is also profoundly interesting in the bowl planted water lily which Kamemi liked. It's her peculiarity from her baby's days that she gazes at people's eyes like this. Kurumi's favorite food (Left) Kurumi became 2 years and 6 months old now. The weight is 1kg and the length of her shell is 18cm. Her most favorite food is popular pellet food for turtles, Repto-Min. It may be like so called the taste of Mom's cooking for her, because she had been eating it since her babies days. (Lower right) She had eaten up even the 25% loading size of big stick type of it soon. So we bought an 500g economy package packed into such a big bag like this. (November 2012)

Kurumi has became 2 years old. (Left) She was a nervous and cowardly turtle and she had a peculiarity which runs into a shelter immediately when she felt someone's signs in her baby days. But She grew up into such a wild and friendly turtle like this now. (Right ) She likes to take out her face from the hole of a shelter. Ｂｕｔ it is likely to become impossible for her to let her head pass in this hole soon. 2-year-old Kurumi. The length of her shell is 14.5 cm and the weight is 490g now. (June 2012)

Kumosuke& Kurumi The strange sound is sometimes heard from the balcony. Though the balcony is separated the space for Kumosuke and space for Kurumi Kumosuke will try to steal in Kurumi's skillfully. And he tries to bite Kurumi trough the container with his mouth open widely so that I worried about whether he have dislocated his jaw. His mating season will come soon.So he is crazy about a lovely girl now (August 2011)

On the other hand, Kurumi which is in the container threatens bigger Kumosuke whose weight is twice or more hers without fearing him while shaking her hands. "Here is my room. Don't come in ! " I wonder if reeves Kumosuke can understand Kurumi's threatening by red-eared slider style ?

Happy Birthday Kurumi! Kurumi which was born at beginning of June, 2010 became one years old. I'm very glad that she grew up well so far like this. We congratulated her birthday with the cake made of her favorite lever paste, decorating small shrimps and ReptMin Super on it and putting a baby slider's color, green candle in the center. She is approaching timidly to the cake that she has never seen. (June 2011)

New pair of our turtles (Upper) This is a picture of our 2 turtles as a couple. Kumosuke which looked to be a very big turtle before He has gradually become small again recently. (Lower) Kumosuke runs after and try to bite Kurumi that sees through a container. He may court her because he is foaming at his mouth. On the other hand, Kurumi notices him or not ? She looks on him with indifference, anyway. (June 2011)

From trouser bottoms (Left) As soon as I think"I found Kumosuke at trouser bottoms, (Upper right) He also looked to find me. His eyes sparkled. (Lower right) He seems to be completely pleased. And he faces my whereabouts.　He is a very friendly turtle. (November 2010)

Can I help you ? Kurumi tries to go forward the narrow space between the land and wall of the container to forcible making a loud noise. She stares at my face as if she say to me "Can I help you? "when I look into her container.It's a good chance ! She is still looking at me even after I pointed the camera to her. She seems to be curious turtle. She is deferent from kamemi which was always sulky when I pointed the camera to her. (December 2010)

Hello! (1) Hello, everyone! My name is Kurumi. My nickname is "Kurutan" I'm a baby of red eared slider. She sunbathes on the leaves of the water hyacinth like a grasshopper in daytime, and sleeps in the roots of it soundly at night. water hyacinth was a cradle for her from whom the first summer became an intense heat. Vegetable Food Both Kamemi&Kumosuke look to think that kinds of vegetable and fruit aren't food. But they eat only soy beans products, exceptionally. So I made such food for them, piling mash of boiled beans without peel on some cream made from bean juice and rolling them by plastic wrap. It's a Swiss roll of soy beans. (April 2010)

Hide-and- seek of Kumosukse Here is Kumosuke's usual whereabouts in balcony. (Left)In the bush of oregano and in smilax vine (Right) Inside of smilax vine He peeps the appearance of the outside from the shadow of the leaves. But it's very difficult for us to find him because his shell is completely hidden and his face is very black. He spends sunny days freely while going and coming between such places and his water place in the outdoors. (Nov.. 2009)

Potatoes & Kumosuke Kumosuke appeared from anywhere with tapping sound when I put potatoes in the balcony that reached from Hokkaido. Kumosuke is a curious turtle. Unusual things for him, potatoes may catch his interest. He wouldn't leave from potatoes. (Nov. 2009)

Meeting together You are... You are Kamemi, aren't you? How are you?(Kumosuke) "Oh, Kumosuke ! How have you been? I wondered why I didn't see you for a while. It's because you live such a place, isn't it ? You look a little bigger than before "(Kamemi) They rarely meet each other recently because they fight for the their territory each other and we keep them separately, though they live in the same house. .Such two turtles met together at the balcony they both were basking. It's already an end that they plays in outdoor this year. Kumosuke grew up a little in his length this year. (Oct.. 2008)

Upset Come here soon and help me, please" (Kamemi) Kamemi tried to go to balcony for egg laying activity and upset near the window by mistake. But she has no mind to rise for herself at all. She stares at us by her miserable glance. "I heard some sounds. Who called me?" (kumosuke) Curious Kumosuke which enjoyed basking in the outside of window felt her sign and came in. (July 2008)

Playground for Kumosuke Kumosuke became protective colored covering soil on his shell. "It's warm when the sun shines here.Very comfortable ! And I can find a lot of hidden places, too. A grate place for me !"(Kumosuke) Egg-laying place for Kamemi has changed Kumosuke's playground while She took a rest. The water of his container is always muddy because he covered with mudgoes into and comes out of water. (June, 2008)

Our lovely visitor A lovely visitor came to our home this spring. His name is Fred, who often appears on this site. He stayed with us for about 10 days after he came from Missouri, U.S.A. (Left) Cherry blossoms were just at their best. We went for a walk to the park by our home and enjoyed cherry blossoms. We took his picture for our memory with a cherry tree for a background. Meeting with Kumosuke It was the first experience for him to meet a reeves turtle the same kind as him. But Kumosuke seemed to have thought that other turtle had invaded his territory. Fred took shelter to his hamster ball. not to be bitten by Kumosuke.But he ran after and rolled the hamster ball Fred was inside. In the pool of the balcony (Left) We prepared the swimming pool in the balcony to welcome our lovely visitor, He basked in the sun with pleasure. (Right) He liked the shelters. He resisted me with his legs stretching "I still want stay here" when I tried to return him to the room in the evening. (March 2008)

"Can you see what I'm eating ? It's a piece of cake. So delicious cake! (Kamemi)" Kamemi which watched its strange appearance and feared it a little. She withdrew her head into the shell at first. But she appeared her face little by little, approached it and bit to it with the big mouth as you see. . Then she picked up even small fragment that dropped in bottom of water tank, has inhaled them as if she's a cleaner and She has eaten up them completely at last. (December 2007)

Kumosuke which isn't interested in food any longer because of recent low temperature. . He can only mumbles food, especially something to easy to bite off in his mouth, even if he feels like eating. But such Kumosuke was overjoyed at this cake that is soft and easy to swallow as you see. He ate it mightily.I felt relieved to his eating a lot after a long time. "I have another stomach for cakes even at the season when I can't eat anything.(Kumosuke)" (December 2007)

This is a little early Christmas present for two turtles from me. I gave it to them before lost of their appetites completely because of coldness. . It's a simple cake with strawberry of ReptoMin Super (pellet food of Tetra). The whipped cream is made from straining of white part of boiled egg. The filling inside are mixture of brightly colored vegetables such as the pumpkins and the tomatoes, small fish and minced meat. Also enough Vitamin is added to them. "Thank you for amusing us also this year .Eat much and apply nourishment enough for winter, please." With love for 2 turtles. (December 2007)

My spot Here is one of Kumosuke's favorite spots at the balcony. We can often find him here when we lose him in balcony. I'm sure he thinks "here is my spot" His face from his spot looks somehow satisfactory. In balcony he spends freely depending on his feelings of the day. This is an item that we used to use as Kamemi's shelter many years ago. We cut the side of a plastic chair for bathroom to the size as even Kamemi can enter. (October 2007)

A hungry turtle, Kamemi Autumn when she has finished egg laying and begins to prepare hibernation is the season she has the most appetite in a year. She can't wait food time. She forgets not to be able to eat anything without water,drags out food inside from cup by herself and bites chops of fish, Her looking is frightened a little. It looks like a beast that tries to bite to catch She likes fishes very much. She eats them up without leaving anything, the head, the bone and even internal organs of it if I just put the chops of them into her tank, even if they are rather big ones. ((October 2007)

Where is Kamemi? I found the cushion swelling a little. And her face appeared from it like this. "I like such a place like this,because I can hide myself" (Kamemi) (May. 2007)

What is it? .Something black at the cuff of the jacket. "I found something like that in the room, and hid myself. And I went and went inside it. So it led me here. I'm very happy!" (Kumosuke) Both of our two turtles like to hide themselves inside of clothes. We often have experience such as our clothes is heavy when we lift it. (February. 2007)
