Temples in Yokohama (Kanagawa)

There are temples where
have legend of"the Kingdom Beneath the Sea( turtle folklore)" in Yokohama

One of them is Keiunji temple here.
There is a stone monument with
turtle's plinth in the side oft gate.
It reads "Statues of Kannon
(goddess of Mercy) transmitted
from ryugu.
The goddess of Marcy that is said that Taro Urashima brought from Ryugu castle with casket in legend is enshrined in this temple, though
it isn't unpublished.

In addition, this temple had been
used as a French consulate before.

This is Washing-water
Turtle's shape and stand with
pattern of wave of sea.
The design is very modern.

But this turtle has ears and
its face looks fox's one.

There is a tower erected for
the repose of animal's soul
back of the washing-water.
We can find lovely stone animals,
turtles, a rabbit and also dogs.

This is a garden of Jobutsuji temple near Keiunji temple.
It's also the temple related to
legend, "Kingdom Beneath the Sea"

There is a stone called tear's stone
(Right) transmitted that Taro Urashima cried because he longed for Ryugu castle sitting on in the side of stones displayed to turtle's shape(Left)

It suits the blue sky.

We find turtles like them around this area. It' like turtle's town.

We can find turtles also here.


There are many address name related turtle or legend of Urashima around
this area.

There are also a lot of historical
spots,not only place related
the legend this area.

It's a jamb turtle's play equipment.
We found it at schoolyard in elementary school.

It's a slide.
There are two slides on
the opposite side of these
two stairs. It's joyful slider.

We visited another temple related
legend of Urashima at the end.
It's Renpouij temple where there is
grave of parent and child's of Urashima.

We could enjoy interesting turtle's trip
though we couldn't see real turtles
at all.
