Kameya-mannendo


At Kameya-mannendo, a well-known confectionery in Tokyo, I found two kinds of lovely sweets with turtles like left photos.


One is turtle's cookie.
It is printed lovely three turtles with flower patterns on its back shell on the surface. It is sandwiched white chocolate between biscuits.



Another is fruit jelly. Its name ,"Kame sanpo(turtle walk)" is also very cute. A green turtle put in the jelly with cutting fruits.

Ningyocho Kameido

Ningyoyaki is well-known traditional souvirner of Tokyo. We can often see it at Asakusa. At Ningyocho Kameido in Nihonbasi Ningyocho, Ningyoyaki shaped like a turtle is sold. Sweet bean jam is inside it. The back side of it is also the shape of the turtle.


Turtle shaped sweet cracker. The turtle is called Minogame in Japanese. It is an old turtle with seaweed growing on its back and it has been valued highly as a lucky omen from ancient times in Japan.

Kawara-senbei (sweet cracker shaped like a Japanese traditional roof tile) with a brand of a turtle.

Ansenka Kameido

Ansenka is the shop of Japanese muffin containing sweet filling (bean jam and so on) at Kameido of Tokyo.

The kinds of filing inside are various.
So we can know it from turtle with winds branded on the surface of muffin
("" that is turning its body
sideways, "Kamekichi" that is facing forward, and "Ushitaro" putting on mask of cow.)
and the color of its wrapping paper

The kind of filling inside are azuki bean's jam, Sweet potato paste, chocolate, white bean jam custard cream and cheesecake.

Turtle shaped bean-jam wafer

This is the traditional Japanese sweet shop which has a long history in Kanda, Tokyo. The name of shop is "Kamesawado".

The turtle shaped bean-jam wafer
connected with its name(kame
means turtle) went on sale to celebrates its 111th year in business.

Its name is "monakame. "monaka" means bean-jam wafer and "kame" means turtle in Japanese.
Both its naming and appearance with smiling face are very cute.

Turtle bread


This is the baker known for the bun with a cream filling at Kagurazaka of Shinjyuku ward Tokyo

Its
fairy-tale-like appearance is lovely.
The trademark turtle sticks on the upper of the entrance.

Turtle shaped bun.

Here is "Kameya honten ,the shop of turtle shaped buns, Kamemanjyu at the Omaezaki city of Shizuoka known as a laying-eggs place of sea turtles in Japan.
There are various size, extra-big, big, middle, small, mini, in the turtle shaped Japanese steamed buns.

they are them of extra-big and mini. Extra-big one is 21cm from the top of head to the tail. And small one is 7.5cm.

Extra-big one has eyes made of azuki beans. It's so cute.

when it is turned over, its back@is like this.
Even the back is also nice.

It's too cute to cut it. But I had courage to do. Sweet red bean paste is contained inside.

The old and tasteful building is very nice.

We can find other turtle's items in the shop.

And we can also see such a lovely live reeves turtle like this .by the side of the shop. They say that they keep many turtles also at the upper flour of this shop.
