Let's go and see the turtles! (12)
Kamenokou& Art Space Abrakame (Okayama)

JR kamenokou station where
I have been wanting to visit there
for a long time since I watched there on T.V. I could have a chance to go there
this time, ("Kamenokou" means turtle's shell in Japanese.)

The station is in the calm country side

(Right)
Three turtle's ornaments welcome us
in the platform of the station at first.

They are realistic turtles as we mistake that they are real ones.
They are maybe reeves turtle..

(Sept. 2008)

The place name "Kamenokou"
is because of turtle shape stone in this area.

The station of Kamenokou has turtle's shape. As the train approaches there the station comes to been seen bigger.

Both of its eyes are clocks.

(Sept. 2008)

And such turtle's ornaments welcome us also outside of the station,in both side of the entrance of the station,

(Sept. 2008)

We can see also a lot of turtle's items in the waiting room of the station

It's like the museum for turtle's items. A lot of cute turtle's items forget us even long waiting time. Time passes quickly when we looked at them
.
(Sept. 2008)

And when we look up at the wall near the ceiling ....

We could find a very nice picture expressed Kamenokou station
like this. It has heart warm atmospere.
(Spet. 2008)

Well, leading part at this station
appeared next.
They all are real turtles. They are kept in this station. They all look to be reeves turtles.

There are a lot of turtles including
big ones, small ones and so on.
And they live in two containers.
(Sept. 2008)

When we go out the station,

(Left)
We could find a guide map of the town
that had turtle's shape

(Right)
A few minutes' walk from the station takes us to the town office.
This is a clock we can see in the front of the office.

This is another rurtle's spot in Okayama. ,"Art Space Aburakame"
It's an art gallery. It opened in 2007 after
the owner repaired a 130 year-old merchant.

It's called "Abra kame" because
a popular old man called Kamesan (Mr.turtle) has run an oil shop
here and it was called "abura (oil) kame (turtle).

Artists from the whole country in Japan often hold their exhibition of turtle's works here because of its name.
