Let's go and see the turtles! (21)
Jindaiji Temple(Tokyo)

I can see these gold-colored,turtles
at Jindaiji Temple of Tokyo.

Large and small, two turtles are putting on the flower like a pedestal.
Both of them are very small turtles.

An explanation read that this is a container for receiving rainwater based on cherry blossom, that is flower as a temple crest of Jindaiji temple.

There are the containers for rainwater on the right and left side of main building of the temple.

There are turtles on the right side and frogs on the left side

The reason why turtles and frogs are here is probably because they are related to water.

This is the board of explanation.
It reads as follows.

"Dedicated to commemorate the 100 anniversary of the bus train and bus of Keio。

"Tensuikeza"
This is a containers for receiving rainwater named "tensuikeza"and it is different from general containers to collect rainwater. It's symbolized cherry blossom as temple crest and characters written by the chief priest are inlaysetstud on the each petals. The combination of 4 characters in the center of pedals (means " The teachings of Buddha be equal to sunny sun shine. It gives us blessing.) and other characters on the each petals become a very edifying Buddhist term. It is very unique.
This temple worshiped the god of water from old times and fertilized the fields by pure spring. Water is the cause of life as you know. The container "Tensuikeza"to receive water from heaven
is suitable for this temple related to water.

On the lucky day of May, 2013.

Many refined souvenir shops stand in a row near the main gate of temple

(Middle, right & left)
"Kitarojaya" is the shop surrounded by a lot of trees as if there is in the forest. It's an old wooden building.

We can eat foods and sweets
using monsters, the characters of Japanese cartoon"Ge ge no Kitaro"here.

(Lower, right & left)
Soba noodle made by using clean water in Jindaiji is well known. Many people were lined up in front of every stores.

In this shop, we can eat soba noodle under trees of the open space with feeling comfortable wind.

This shop allows us to come in with pets. There may be a pet cemetery near by. I feel affection for living things and animals.

Some of ceramic ornaments and earthenware bells of turtle are sold in this ceramic shop.
